Lovebirds you're engaged (Congratulations) Yippee! You are going to marry the one who makes your heart smile. For a moment I'd like for you to close your eyes and envision your wedding day, what do you see? You probably see your Love staring at you, the beautiful decor, your loved ones and so much more. Now that you have envisioned some of the most memorable moments of your wedding day where will you create all these memories?
You're engaged, you've shared the great news with family and friends. Now it's time to make one of the first big decisions in the wedding planning process, selecting your venue. Finding the perfect venue is extremely important. However it's not such an easy task. There are so many options to choose from and so many things to consider. To make this process a bit easier for you, here are 8 tips to consider when selecting a venue for your wedding.
1. Hire a Wedding Planner
Hiring a wedding planner is a big investment; one of the best investments you'll ever make while planning your wedding. They will not only help save you time and help you to keep a sane mind, they will be a big help while you venture out to select your dream venue. Wedding planners will know which venue is "The One" for you base upon your vision and style. They will also let you know if you'll be able to accomplish all or any unique designs you'd like to incorporate just by researching and viewing the space requirements, layout and accessibilities.
2. Choose a Wedding Date
Choosing a wedding date is extremely necessary before searching for a venue especially if some or all of your wedding festivities will be done on the outside. One of the first questions the venue coordinator will ask for is your wedding date to check availability. Having some tentative dates or a set date will make the process much smoother.

3. Your Vision and Style
Your wedding aesthetic is an extension of your unique style. The aesthetic of a wedding is its consistent style. Knowing your wedding style is extremely important as it helps you to define all the elements you'll need for your wedding such as your dream venue and more. Not only will knowing your wedding style help your wedding planner, creative team and venue coordinator to understand your vision, it will also help narrow down the search when selecting a venue. If you and your love enjoy animals, an outdoor, barn wedding would be perfect.

4. Budget
Your budget is another factor to consider when searching for your wedding venue. Remember you are not just paying for the venue space but food, decor, floral design and any or all elements you'd like to incorporate into your reception. Sitting with your Love to discuss your wedding needs and budget is very important before selecting a venue. Once you have an estimate you will be able to find a suitable venue that fits your budget.
5. Capacity and Guest Count
A comfortable space that will accommodate you and your guest count is one of the things you want to consider when searching for your wedding venue. Before you begin your search for your dream venue, it’s a good idea to have an estimate of how many guests you'll be inviting to your wedding. Creating a guest list at an early stage in your wedding planning process is a great idea. This will help you determine what size venue you'll need to search for. If your guest list is small and intimate, booking a venue with a huge space may not be the direction you'd like to take. An important factor to remember is every head is counted for. Determining how many guests you'd like to have will also help you break down your budget.

6. Venue Packages
Many venues offer different packages for weddings. Think about your reception needs for a minute. Would you like an all-inclusive venue that already have tables, linens, food or you are looking for just the venue space? Knowing which venue package suits your needs is extremely important when making your choice.
7. Venue Maintenance
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. To ensure that you have a wonderful experience while you create beautiful memories, everything needs to be in tack. I'll be the first to tell you that nothing under the s-u-n is perfect, however getting as close as possible is always the goal. One of the first things you need to pay attention to when you visit a venue is how well the place is kept. What's the first scent that you smell? Are the bathrooms clean? What about the outdoor, entrance and landscaping? What you see, smell, hear and feel will tell you a lot about the venue maintenance.
8. Management and Staff
It's all about a wonderful and warm experience. The great Maya Angelou said "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. The venue staff will let you a lot about what you, your wedding planner and guests will experience on the wedding day. On your tours take lots of notes. Are the staff welcoming? Do you feel comfortable? Is the tour manager listening to your vision? If your first experience is terrible chances are you will probably have the same experience throughout the planning process.
Lovebirds, this is a lot to consider right? I know selecting your dream venue can be a bit overwhelming and can steer you right out your comfort zone but breathe. If you hire a good wedding planner they will be of great help. They will be an awesome guide and as you do your research a great support system.
Here are a few other tips that will help you narrow down your search to finding your dream venue:
- Location - Look at the location. Does it suit your needs? Is the area a great neighborhood? What about parking? Will there be a problem for your guests to find parking?
- Reviews! Reviews! Reviews! Check out the venues pass reviews and online presence. What is the majority saying about the venue? The experience they had?
- Look at photos from previous events held at the venue. This way you'll get a better idea of what the venue space looks like when it's all dressed
Love is a beautiful thing that should be celebrated and finding the right venue to share your love as you become one and create memories is extremely important.
